Adrien Lambinet
- Instruments : Trombone, Electronics, Synthesizer
- Date of birth : 20/04/1979 - Virton
Training & Influences
Trained at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, then Liège, Adrien Lambinet developed a cross-disciplinary approach to music from a very early age. In Liège, he met the American trombonist and composer Garrett List, whose teaching profoundly transformed his vision of the musical act. This encounter paved the way for a free, open, and resolutely contemporary practice.
An Eclectic Career
Adrien participates in creations with ensembles such as Ictus, Musiques Nouvelles, and the Garrett List Ensemble. In parallel, he is involved in multidisciplinary stage projects with Théâtre Maât, Feria Musica, and Needcompany.
In 2015, he was invited to a carte blanche at the Gaume Jazz Festival, where he presented a personal program blending composition, improvisation, and electronics.
Sonic Explorations
A curious and inventive trombonist, Adrien is developing a personal language around the augmented trombone. Through the addition of electronic effects and in-depth work on sonic texture, he explores new territories in his projects: The Brums, the duo Quark, and the trio Munsch, whose album Entropia was released in 2023.
Collaborations
His world intersects with that of numerous artists from diverse scenes: Laurie Anderson, Stromae, Franco Dragone, Chilly Gonzales, Mike Patton, Fabian Fiorini, Echo Collective, Michel Portal, Arno, as well as Mik Maak, Tuur Florizoone, Artra Poetik, Collectif du Lion, and Laila Amezian.
Composition & Conducting
He also composes for ensembles. His piece Dominos, Show, commissioned by Bozar for 250 child sopranos and the Belgian National Orchestra, illustrates his affinity for collective forms and participation.
He also conducts amateur and professional ensembles, such as Orchestra Vivo! as part of the Music for Trees project, a musical and ecological tribute to Garrett List.
Passing on Knowledge
Since 2015, Adrien has taught improvisation at the AKDT in Libramont. In 2020, he revived the trombone class at the IMEP in Namur, which had been absent for several years. He also teaches chamber music there. His teaching method is based on listening, sound exploration, body awareness, and freedom of interpretation.
