"Prémices" - 1st Edition : New Call for Jazz Artists tremplin Jazz in Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles
Jazz9, Open Music, and Jazz Station are glad to present Prémices: a program designed for jazz musicians living in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, offering tools for professional development, creation, and the local and international promotion of their work.
What is involved:
--> For the 4 finalists:
Professional development support (how to invoice, assert your rights, copyright and related rights, etc.)
Development and soft skills sessions: stage coaching, project management/mentoring, VSS and gender issues, preparation for international outreach
Communication and marketing sessions: Marketing and promotion, social media, how to approach industry professionals: preparing a pitch, presenting your project, preparing for an event like Jazzahead, how to approach a venue, a label, or a booker
Meetings with professionals in the sector: sharing experiences, advice, Q&A sessions with programmers, managers, labels, booking agents, etc.
--> For prize winners:
1st Prize: Concert tour in Belgium for the winning band, including a concert in front of an audience of international programmers
2nd Prize: Recording of a 4-track EP
Both: A one-week residency with artistic and technical mentoring / Artistic direction
--> Who is it for?
Emerging bands (with no more than one album to their credit—no age limit) consisting of up to 5 musicians based in Federation Wallonie-Brussels or under a social establishment (like ASBL/NPO) based in this area.
The juries will give special consideration to projects led by or featuring one or more FINTA artists.
Among the candidates, 4 finalist bands selected by a jury of professionals will perform a 30-minute set during the final, which will take place in front of a live audience at Jazz9 (Mazy): Candidates must therefore be available on November 21, 2026.
