Following the resounding artistic and popular success of the 42nd Gaume Jazz Festival last August, the spotlight now turns to *Gaume Jazz d'Automne*. On Saturday, November 7th at 8:30 PM in Rossignol (Tintigny), the event will present "We Want Miles"—a tribute marking the centenary of Miles Davis!

We Want Miles — 100 Years of Miles Davis

From *Kind of Blue* to *Tutu*: an exploratory journey through the many artistic lives of Miles Davis.

This past summer, the 42nd Gaume Jazz Festival celebrated the centenary of Miles Davis—an elusive, towering figure who constantly pushed the boundaries of jazz throughout his life—with a tribute performance by Erik Truffaz and Antonio Lizana. *Gaume Jazz d'Automne* extends this celebration with a unique, exceptional new event: a tribute led by six Belgian musicians at the peak of their craft.

The evening continues the homage to Miles Davis—an architect of musical transformation and a magnetic figure who ceaselessly propelled jazz forward. From the lyricism of *Kind of Blue* to the electric, urban aesthetic of his final years, Miles constantly upended conventions and shifted the genre's boundaries.

This program offers a deep dive into several of Miles's artistic eras: the timeless, almost contemplative acoustic period characterized by open harmonies and expressive minimalism; the era of grand orchestral direction and total freedom; and finally, his electric turn—fueled by groove, funk, rhythmic tension, and a fresh approach to the pulse. Driven by a sextet well-versed in the nuances of the Davisian musical language, *We Want Miles* eschews museum-style reenactment; instead, it brings Miles’s spirit to life rather than freezing it in time. The band embraces the legacy while propelling it into the present, recapturing that fundamental Milesian impulse: always moving forward.

Concert presented by the non-profit organization Gaume Jazz, with the support of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Province of Luxembourg, the Municipality of Tintigny, the Rossignol-Tintigny Cultural Centre, and Jazz in Belgium.
