Echo Woods is a sextet founded by jazz guitarist Matteo Di Leonardo, based in Brussels since 2015. Driven by a passion for innovation and sonic fusion, he recorded the group’s debut album in June 2024, featuring original compositions that explore new sound frontiers.
At the heart of Echo Woods lies the fusion of modern jazz and contemporary experimentation. The band combines the warmth of a classic trio — electric guitar, double bass, and drums — with an unusual wind section including bass clarinet, saxophones, bassoon, and sheng, a traditional Chinese instrument
Their album, released on March 28, 2025 under the Belgian label September Music, has brought the group to stages such as Tournai Jazz Festival and the European showcase JAZZx in Timișoara.
