IQNOVARA

The emerging jazz quartet Iqnovara approaches jazz as an open space, a place where stories come together. Guitar, piano, double bass and drums are tools for connecting through improvisation and exploration. Band leader Haroun Iqbal (guitar) and Joseph Nowell (piano) are responsible for the compositions – both trained in both classical music and jazz and influenced by West African kora, Indian raga, and masters such as Paul Bley and Jakob Bro. Together with Zjef Van Steenbergen (double bass) and Simon Raman (drums), they bring their layered compositions to life. Light-footed yet complex, effortless yet virtuosic, fragile yet confident. Onderstroom, their debut album from 2024, was immediately picked up by De Keuze van Klara and confirmed Iqnovara as one to watch.
