For its 39th edition, Brussels' grooviest festival is casting off from its municipal roots. This year, the festival is heading to a place where culture permeates the very walls: Saint-Gilles, with a welcome stop at Jacques Franck.
Always on the edge of jazz, never quite within it, Saint Jazz prefers to take the road less travelled and embrace notes that overflow. From Saint-Josse to Saint-Gilles, it traces a melodic line that is both familiar and unexpected.
For Saint Jazz Festival, The Jacques Franck welcomes a unique encounter: three exceptional musicians coming together on stage for the first time. A Brussels accordionist with a unique career, film composer and figure of Belgian jazz, Tuur Florizoone has long been inspired by the subtle art of Jean-Louis Matinier, French accordion master and companion of Anouar Brahem, Louis Sclavis and Juliette GrΓ©co. After an initial collaboration as a duo, they are now reunited to continue their dialogue. Joining them is bassist and guitarist Nicolas Fiszman, a Belgian musician with a thousand lives β from Sting to Philip Catherine, Francis Cabrel to Joe Zawinul β who brings his virtuosity and unique sense of listening to the table. Three outstanding improvisers, three paths that cross to invent free, sensitive and poetic music.
