OVERSEAS Concert - Benefit for GHETTO CLASSICS

Saxophonist Toine Thys will be giving a concert with his group OVERSEAS at the Baixu in Brussels. OVERSEAS is the meeting of Belgian saxophonist Toine Thys and Egyptian oud player Ihab Radwan, Brazilian Zé Luis Nascimento, Dutch pianist Harmen Fraanje and Luxembourg cellist Annemie Osborne.

The evening is organised by the Ferragus association, Tables en fête, Baixu and Igloo Records.

All proceeds from this charity evening will go to the GHETTO CLASSICS music school in Nairobi, Kenya, including the production of a video clip to promote the orchestra's tour.

GHETTO CLASSICS is a music school with 1,500 pupils in a huge shanty town. A haven of peace and solidarity, the school provides unprecedented support for the young people of this underprivileged neighbourhood. The slogan, 'the Power of Music', is incredibly apt here. Toine will soon be visiting the school for the 3rd time, accompanied by drummer Karl Jannuska for a jazz workshop.
