This inspired saxophonist Tom Van Dyck to write music for this quartet.
They play contemporary jazz featuring original compositions that make their ensemble playing even more intense. The music challenges the performers and takes the listener on a captivating journey through a richly varied musical landscape.
Throughout his musical career, Tom has been composing for bands he leads, such as the saxophone quartet Saxkartel, as well as for big bands and unusual line-ups such as the ‘Frisbee’ project with violist Oene van Geel.
As a composer and saxophonist, he has collaborated with, amongst others, Ewout Pierreux, Mark Haanstra, Robin Verheyen, Kurt Van Herck, Frank Vaganee, Tutu Puoane, The Tuesdaynight Orchestra and Mimi Verderame’s big band.
Milan is a young jazz pianist from Antwerp. He grew up surrounded by jazz and graduated with the highest honours in 2022. In 2023, he was one of ‘De Twintigers’ on Klara. He has played with Bert Joris, Kurt Van Herck, John Ruocco and Jakob Bro, amongst others.
Piet Verbist, the band’s most senior member, has played with virtually the entire Belgian jazz scene,
and has toured across much of the globe. He is best known as the founder and bassist of the original “Jef Neve Trio”, but also for his long-standing collaborations with Ben Sluys, Bram Weijters and Chad McCullough. In addition, he has led various projects himself, resulting in a number of CD releases, including the aforementioned “Flamenco Jazz Summit”, his most recent release. Alongside the “Piet Verbist Quartet”, the “Secret Exit Trio” – featuring Hendrik Braeckman and Lionel Beuvens – is also an active ensemble.
Wim Eggermont studied for five years at the Lemmens Institute under Dré Pallemaerts, taking additional lessons from Stephane Galland, Hans Van Oosterhout, Phillippe Aerts and Pierre Van Dormael.
He has previously collaborated in other ensembles led by Piet Verbist, alternating with Dré Pallemaerts. He has also played with Godwin Louis, Frank Vaganee, Nic Thys, Jean-Paul Estiévenart, Tutu Puoane, Ewout Pierreux, Nicolas Andrioli and others.
Wim combines virtuosity and subtlety in his approach to this quartet’s music. Warm-hearted yet cool-headed. Always alert, ready to offer both commentary and support.
In April 2026, the band recorded an album, which is due to be released after the summer holidays.
They are planning a release tour in the autumn of 2026 to share this captivating music with the public.
