Lara Humbert Quartet + Ma

 Based in Brussels, French pianist and composer Lara Humbert formed the quartet in 2021, bringing together highly active musicians from the city's experimental scene. Lara also leads the octet "I'm Not Done Cooking." The quartet released their debut album, Pinède, in March 2024, and is currently also presenting a new repertoire, "Le Village" (The Village), which includes singer and writer Ma Clément.

Their music strikes a balance between written composition and free improvisation, blending jazz, pop, and classical influences. The group—featuring piano, violin, electric guitar, drums, and voice—explores different textures and sounds through improvisation. The result is a fluid and hypnotic musical journey guided by layered melodies that shift between tonal and atonal sounds, creating a warm and contemplative energy.

"The Village" repertoire tells the story of life in a countryside village, with pieces like "La Maison" (The House), "La Ferme" (The Farm), and "La Forêt" (The Forest). Through their respective personal memories, Lara and Ma create a new unique narrative that questions the nature of remembrance, inviting listeners to find their own stories within the music.
