Johnny HOT, born in 1932 in a family of musicians, started his piano career at the age of 5, playing at Radio Berchem and Radio Schaerbeek. At the age of 13 he won the prize of best amateur pianist organised by the Hot Club de Belgique.

He played with the JUMP COLLEGE, a Belgian dance orchestra which he later conducted, performing with Sidney BECHET, Django REINHARDT, Kenny CLARKE, Slide HAMPTON, Nat King COLE etc..

He played with numerous Belgian soloists (SADI, Johnny DOVER, Jacky JUN, Jacques PELZER, Nick FISSETTE, Mary KAYE, Paul DUBOIS, etc...), and orchestras.

He also recorded with singer Isabelle ANTENA,

Johnny HOT shares his life experience as a pianist regularly with the new jazz generation and plays a.o. in trio with his sons under the name "Johnny Hot & Hot Family".

He recently appeared a.o. with the Johnny HOT Quartet, featuring Hendrick LEEUWE (trumpet), Sam GERSTMANS (bass) and Herman PARDON (drums).

Johnny HOT appears on several albums, a.o. with SADI and his big band. He also plays with the RETRO JAZZ ORCHESTRA (cd That's My Desire).
