East Coast West Coast - Swingmasters

East Coast West Coast - Swingmasters

hese top Belgian musicians, who perform at home and abroad under the name Swingmasters, will take you on a jazz tour of the USA of the 1950-ies during this absolutely unmissable festival evening.

In those years, you had East Coast Jazz (hard bop), as it was played in New York and Chicago, on the one hand, and West Coast Jazz (considered more of a subgenre of cool jazz), as it was played in California (Los Angeles and San Francisco), on the other.

The Swingmasters will give their best in a mainly instrumental programme, featuring well-known and lesser-known compositions by Art Blakey, Hank Mobley, Gerry Mulligan, Horace Silver and many others.

Don't miss this chance to be part of a musical journey that takes you from swinging classics to the fine jazz nuances. An evening with Swingmasters is an evening where jazz history comes alive and every note has its importance and there will never be one too many played, but always with respect for the rich jazz tradition.

Get ready for an unforgettable evening and immerse yourself in this Live Jazz Music @ Campus Corso concert. An experience not to be missed as a jazz lover.

Swingmasters

The Swingmasters adventure began in 2006, when bassist Stefan Willems gathered top musicians for the Megève Jazz Contest in France - and with success: they took first prize! This success story continued during the 20th edition of this Contest in 2013, where Swingmasters triumphed once again.

With more than 60 performances at the Music Village in Brussels on their assets, Swingmasters have built up an impressive repertoire. From the Billie Holiday Songbook to a Tribute to Sinatra and from Jazz at the Movies to East Coast West Coast, the Swingmasters continue to surprise the jazz world with versatile and high-profile projects.

This year, the Swingmasters were again guests at the Breda Jazz Festival (May) and the prestigious Davos Kloster Jazz Festival in Switzerland (July).
