Rudy Frankel made a very long career as a jazz drummer in Belgium after WW 2. A versatile player, he was at ease in all styles of jazz and was known as a sensitive and refined player.

He played with numerous US soloists (he recorded a.o. with Lucky Thompson) and well known Belgian jazzmen, a long list in which the following names come to mind : Mickey Bunner, Jean Robert, Jack Sels (quartet, big band), Sadi, Jean Warland, Jean Fanis, Roger Vanhaverbeke, Toots Thielemans, Herman Sandy, Nick Fissette, Christian Kellens, Jacques Pelzer, René Thomas, Benoît Quersin, etc...

He appears on many albums, a.o. the historical LP "Jazz in Little Belgium" (Decca, 1958) with the Jack Sels quartet, or on Jean-Lou Vanderborght's "Gershwin Melodies" (KOCH DICD 920384, 1982), with Gene "Mighty Flea" Connors.
In 1955, he recorded with the Jacques Pelzer Modern Jazz Sextet, with Herman Sandy (tp), Jean Fanis (p), René Thomas (gt) and Paul Dubois (b).
