Sara Simionato

Sara Simionato is a Brussels-based singer and composer, born in Venice, whose aesthetic spans contemporary jazz, improvisation and chamber music.

Her current research investigates the intersections between jazz composition, embodiment, and new technologies.

After early studies in piano and vocal chamber music, she discovered jazz and developed a deep interest in improvisation and Black American music. This led her to pursue Jazz Singing at the Conservatorio F. Venezze in Rovigo and later Jazz Composition at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan.

Besides her main projects as singer, composer and lyricist, she has collaborated with jazz orchestras, contemporary dancers, electronic musicians. She is also the founder of ESC Collective and Brussels Composers' Collective.

She has performed at renowned European festival and venues including Budapest Jazz Club (2018), Istituto di Cultura Italiana in Budapest (2018), Casalini Jazz Nights (2019), Jazz Area Metropolitana (2020), Fara Jazz Fest (2021), Novara Jazz (2022), JazzMi (2023), Ruis Festival (2024), Brussels Jazz Weekend (2025).

She is currently teaching Vocal Improvisation Techniques at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she is also conducting a research project on the investigation of the compositional process through embodiment and new technologies.
