Sanja Maas performs and composes since the age of 13 and studied classical music since the age of 6. She grew up in a jazz environment, her father was a jazz piano player and she soon showed interest in developing her voice in that direction. Experiencing blues, funk, new-wave styles when she was a teenager, she soon had the desire to perfection her technique and vocal endurance, she studied for 6 years at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she graduated with a Master in Jazz in 2000.

Besides this she developed a project called SAYMA (2 albums on Spotify, Capricorn and Ignite) where jazz trip-hop and drum’n’bass music cross each other. This collaboration resulted in concerts on the Grand Place of Brussels, Paris, Montreux Jazz Festival and the after show of Kraftwerk at the Ancienne Belgique (Brussels). Other side projects with Parisian dj Shade (concerts in Singapore for Hugo Boss), compilations and one shot tracks for Pshent records, Epoque Label ( house label Barcelona), Shadow records New York, Buddha Bar Paris and for the 50th birthday of the UNHCR in Geneva in 2000. In 2006 she did a 6 month promotional tour with a dj and live musicians for Cerveza Corona in Europe and North Africa. Her influences go from Stevie Wonder, the jazz singers Sarah Vaughan and Abbey Lincoln, South American singers Tania Maria, Celia Cruz, Maria Bethania and also Bobby Mc Ferrin, Grace Jones, just to name a few.

Sanja sings in the cruise industry since 2013, first on the exclusive ship Hapag -Lloyd MS Europa and Tui Cruises, Meinschiff fleet since 2015. Currently she still travels the oceans and works freelance with pianist, composer Martin de Marneffe and house music producer, musician Juan Pacifico.
