Laurence Cousseau
- Instruments : Flute, Alto flute
- Date of birth : 25/07/1990
Fascinated by jazz and drums from an early age, Laurence Cousseau began her musical journey at 13 in the jazz section of the Marciac school (France). Initially pursuing a career in scientific research, she moved to Belgium in 2013 for a PhD in bird sociality. However, at 24, she discovered a deep connection with the alto flute, marking a turning point in her artistic path. She studied classical flute with Pascale Simon, exploring early and contemporary music, including works by Jolivet and Takemitsu. A transformative workshop with Bo Van der Werf in 2017 opened new horizons for improvisation and composition. In 2019, she joined the Royal Conservatory of Brussels to study jazz flute under Fabrice Alleman, earning her bachelor's degree in 2023 and now pursuing a Master degree. Today, Laurence performs in various jazz and world music ensembles (Crépuscule à Bascule, Nacelle, Kama, Maglé).
