Active in the world of cinema, he has written some twenty soundtracks for short-medium-length films and documentaries.
His collaboration with Belgian director Maxime Coton led to the soundtracks for the following films: “La mécanique des corps” 2011, “À l'œuvre” 2012, “Enfants des pierres” 2013, “Le Soldat Inconnu” 2014, “Petite histoire avant d'aller se coucher” 2015, “Après l'Usine” 2019, and the web series “Virages 2020” for RTBF.
Tom is a laureate of the “Trio 2019” scheme, organized by the Maison du Film Court in Paris.
Tom composes for solo piano, with a first collection called “Septembre” released in 2016, and another “Archipel” in 2020, both performed by pianist Lena Kollmeier.
Active as a musician too, Tom composes in a wide variety of styles (jazz, chanson, experimental, large ensembles).
He is also in demand as a sideman in groups such as “Odil”, “Vestige”, “Margaux Vranken Group”, “Jelle Van Giel Group”, etc. ... ...
In 2016, Tom created the group “Murmures”, an acoustic quartet with an original line-up.
A double-album was released in 2018, a vinyl-concert-live album in 2019, and a second double-album in 2022 with the German label NeuklangRecords.
The repertoire of personal compositions oscillates between an album with the quartet “Murmures” and a second album with a large ensemble called “Rumeurs”, with the repertoire echoing each other between the albums.
2022 also saw the release of his first solo album, “Solos”, on the Mogno label, the album of the duo “Moanin'Birds” with Brazilian double bassist Fil Caporali, and the first album of the group “Vestige” on tour in Taiwan.
He signs the soundtrack of the documentary “La vie en kit” by Elodie Degavre.
In 2023, Tom creates a new jazz quartet, dedicated to the music of Lili Boulanger.
The repertoire is entirely revisited & arranged, with Veronika Harcsa and Vincent Courtois as guests, and an album will be released on IglooRecords label in April 2025.
During a tour of Taiwan in early 2024, Tom plays in duo with pianist Kuo Chun Yu, the duo recording an album of compositions in the wake of the tour.
In 2025, the album Tom Bourgeois 4te “Lili” is released with Veronika Harcsa and Vincent Courtois as guests on Igloo and Bmc labels.
The “Moanin' Birds” duo also released a 2nd album in 2025 on Hypnote label.
The band Vestige is also releasing a 2nd album, with a tour of Asia scheduled for autumn 2025.
