Dimitri Delvaux
Dimitri Delvaux is a Belgian saxophonist whose background combines musical exigency, open-mindedness and sincere passion for sharing. Trained in jazz after a classical grounding, he very early developed a personal language nurtured by the giants of the saxophone—from John Coltrane to Joe Lovano, passing through Stan Getz, Bobby Jaspar or Michael Brecker.
Graduated from the Jazz Studio in Antwerp and then from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Steve Houben, Dimitri refines an approach where lyricism, swing and sound exploration coexist naturally. His playing is distinguished by a mastery of improvisation, great stylistic flexibility, and an expressive sound at will, always at the service of emotion.
A stage and studio musician, he is active in many formations: from the intimate quartet to powerful big bands, from funk to world music, without ever losing the main thread of his artistic approach: the search for truth, life, and the moment!
He is also at the origin of original projects such as Monsieur Saxo, a young audience show in duo mixing music and theater around the life of Adolphe Sax. This creation, praised for its artistic quality and accessibility, demonstrates Dimitri’s commitment to transmission and musical awakening.
At the same time pedagogue, composer and performer, Dimitri embodies a generous figure of contemporary Belgian jazz—a musician at the service of breath, listening, and the beauty of sound encounters.
