Call for artists : JM 2026-27

Are you a professional musician/artist residing in Belgium?

Does your musical project appeal to children and teenagers?

Apply for the Jeunesses Musicales 2026-27 tours.

Jeunesses Musicales Wallonia-Brussels is...

A leading Belgian institution, now global, with 85 years of experience.

Their mission: all music for all young people, through listening and practice.

Every year, 50 musical projects of all styles: classical (from early music to contemporary music), traditional music, folk, blues, jazz, improvisation, French-language songs, pop, rock, electro, rap, slam, neo-classical, etc., are sometimes combined with other art forms such as visual arts, cinema, theatre, storytelling, dance, circus, as well as philosophy and history.

Eligibility requirements

  • The project must be designed and conceived for children and teenagers, from nursery school to secondary school.
  • Only live music will be accepted: no playback or audio recordings.
  • For non-classical music: the repertoire must be predominantly original (lyrics and compositions), even in the case of rearrangements or transcriptions.
  • The project must be adapted, or even specially created, for performance in schools, with a technical approach designed for this context, and combine concert/performance with cultural mediation/transmission.
  • The artists will perform during school hours, sometimes during educational trips or in boarding schools. They will give two, three or four performances per day in a wide variety of venues (schools, theatres, libraries, multi-purpose spaces, etc.), each lasting 50 minutes, in front of an audience of around 150 participants. These encounters are a source of connection with young audiences.
  • In this specific context, technical simplicity is essential, meaning that a more acoustic version is preferred. The artists will be completely independent.
  • No text should undermine human dignity or convey discriminatory messages (sexism, homophobia, racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, etc.). Translations may be requested.

The deadline for applications is  29 September 2025 .
