Four experienced musicians, hailing from four different regions of Belgium, have joined forces.

Trumpeter Carlo Nardozza has been a highly respected figure on the Belgian and international music scene for twenty years, both as a soloist and as a member of ensembles.

In addition to his numerous solo projects (notably the Trio in Bocca al Lupo and his duo with accordionist Philippe Thuriot), he is a much sought-after sideman (Raymond van het Groenewoud, OTO Machine, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Jelle Van Giel Group, Bram Weijters Quartet, etc.).

Ewout Pierreux (piano) is best known as the musical partner of singer Tutu Puoane, but he also collaborates with numerous artists (Rebirth::Collective, Bart Defoort, Marjan Van Rompay, Close Distance, etc.) and has played with Bert Joris, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Toots Thielemans and Eva De Roovere.

Together with South African trumpeter Marcus Wyatt, he led the South African/Belgian improvisation collective Small World.

Bassist Sam Gerstmans has been a key figure on the southern Belgian scene for many years. A long-standing member of Mélanie De Biasio’s band, he has collaborated with artists such as Philip Cathérine, Jean-Paul Estiévenart, Steve Houben, Rick Margitza and Deborah Brown. In Flanders, he is currently very active as part of the Vaganée/Gerstmans/Verbruggen trio.

Toni Vitacolonna is best known in jazz circles as the drummer of the now legendary Brussels Jazz Orchestra, but his versatility and wide-ranging interests have also led him in recent years to explore other musical horizons, such as Frank Deruytter’s Kommil Foo and Minimachine.

These four musicians are joining forces to play authentic, swinging acoustic jazz, purely for the pleasure of it and without worrying about current trends. Together, they improvise around the blues, bebop and the spellbinding melodies of jazz standards, as well as their own compositions. A guaranteed treat for both players and listeners!
