The Rinnert Van Ranst Quartet is a young Belgian jazz ensemble centred around guitarist Rinnert Van Ranst, who trained at the Kunsthumaniora Antwerp and will continue his studies at Codarts Rotterdam. He also attended a masterclass with Jonathan Kreisberg, which further enhanced his artistic development.
The band members got to know each other during their first appearance at Dragon Jazz. The ensemble, featuring Cyriel Vanhoutte on trumpet, Oskar Slabbinck on drums and Xander Claeys on bass, offers a cohesive and contemporary take on jazz, with an emphasis on ensemble playing and improvisation. In 2026, the quintet – with Matteo Vervenne on piano – was crowned the winner of the Dragon Jazz Contest in the ‘band’ category.
