Between Whispers is a contemporary vocal jazz project where voices brush against one another, surprise each other, and come together. Barbara Wiernik and Sarah Klenes explore a way of singing based on listening, improvisation, and shared breath. They are accompanied by remarkable instrumentalists, partners in a free, sensitive, and inventive dialogue. Together, they create ever-evolving soundscapes, open up spaces, and trace unexpected lines.
This project emerged from Barbara Wiernik’s artistic research, conducted as part of a doctoral thesis on contemporary vocal jazz in Europe. Throughout this journey, she forged deep human and musical connections with singers from across the continent. The project preserves this legacy and offers a generous, vibrant interpretation of it.
