Ben Vanderweyden Quartet - Thank You, Toots!

More than a century has passed since the birth of legendary jazz harmonica virtuoso Jean ‘Toots’ Thielemans. In honour of this Belgian musical icon, the Ben Vanderweyden Quartet presents a tribute to his life and work.

 'Thank You, Toots!' is more than a concert; it is a unique multimedia project combining the music of Toots Thielemans with authentic footage from the VRT archives and surprising anecdotes. Presenter Michael Robberechts shares colourful stories and typical memories that provide a deeper insight into the life of the jazz legend.

The repertoire consists of the quartet's own arrangements of a wide selection of well-known compositions, including the soundtracks of the films Turkish Delight and Midnight Cowboy, the television series Sesame Street, as well as Toots' own compositions such as For My Lady, the classic Bluesette and other musical gems such as Three Views of a Secret.

 The sound of the Ben Vanderweyden Quartet is characterised by a melodic, colourful and expressive retro sound that fits seamlessly with Toots' artistic creations from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and perfectly captures the spirit of Toots. What is special is that all the musicians of the Ben Vanderweyden Quartet have worked with Toots Thielemans both in the studio and on stage.
