Album Release Concert

Driven by raw energy and fiery colours, the Marc Ducarne Quartet stands for a humanist form of jazz, searching for meaning and emotion. Moving between musical trance, free jazz, ethnic influences, hypnotic loops and sharp irony, their music draws on the legacy of the great masters while asserting a strong and distinctive identity.

Each composition by Marc Ducarne, on alto and soprano saxophones, is shaped by his life experience, musical journey and commitment against injustice, particularly racism. A no-compromise jazz: intense, both grounded and free. A radical musical experience, bold and uncompromising!

For this album, Marc Ducarne has surrounded himself with two internationally acclaimed saxophonists, recognised from Japan to Central America and the United States: Baptiste Herbin and Pierrick Pédron*. The latter will be present for the concert.

“Marc Ducarne’s universe is rooted in a rich tradition where the noble suppleness of a peak-era Steve Lacy meets the elegant experiments of John Surman, without overlooking the invaluable contributions of the Coltrane legacy.”
Didier Boudet

*Pierrick Pédron, multiple winner at the Victoires du Jazz (Best Album of the Year, Best Artist of the Year, etc.), is one of the leading figures of French jazz. A remarkable opportunity to experience him in the intimate atmosphere of the Open Music Jazz Club!!! A first for the club, marking the release of the latest album by the Marc Ducarne Quartet!
