We, Lovebirds 

Under the name “We, Lovebirds”, Orlan Ghekiere, Tobias Volckaert and Suzan Peeters (music) together with Ramona Vangrinsven (scenography) explore the relationship between birds and their/our living environment. On the border between the city (outskirts), fields and the great outdoors, they search for the influence of an ever-changing context on the oh-so-familiar soundtrack that birds form in our lives.

A collection of field recordings of birds in different environments serves as a source of inspiration for a musical dialogue in which both the voice of the birds and that of the environment are represented. This leads to sounds that are sometimes harmonious, sometimes jarring/contrasting. In a cloud of electronics and percussion, saxophone, clarinet, flute and other wind instruments move to the frivolous rhythm offered by the birds.

The music is performed in a scenography designed by Ramona Vangrinsven. Developed in a collaborative creative process, sound and image reflect the winged world in a whole that challenges the imagination in various ways.

PPLUM

avant-garde eclectropop duo

In the guise of a two-headed organism, PPLUM roots organic sounds in a synthetic nest. In Björkian fashion, she frolics through an obscure universe of wandering voices, haunting beats and utopian lyrics.

With a serene undertone, they embody both

animal instinct and artificial smiles

intuitive risk and calculated moves

delicate weeds and primeval moss

Tess Van der Sanden and Jip Arickx blend music and performance into an eclectic whole. Inspired by PJ Harvey, St. Vincent and Marina Herlop, they bring their own genre: avant-garde eclectropop.
