West Coast jazz is a style of jazz that developed in Los Angeles and San Francisco in the 1950s, often considered a subgenre of cool jazz, which consisted of a calmer style than bebop or hard bop.
The Gerry Mulligan/Chet Baker Quartet (one of the most famous “pianoless” quartets), the Lee Konitz/Warne Marsh/Lennie Tristano partnership and the Four Brothers (with Stan Getz and Zoot Sims) had a strong influence on the jazz scene for decades.
Thomas Champagne and Adrien Lecomte combine their brass instruments to present a repertoire of great classical compositions from the era.
A piano-less quartet needs a solid rhythm section. The creativity, strength and interaction of Hendrik Vanattenhoven and Jan de Haas will delight you!
Thomas Champagne – alto saxophone
Adrien Lecomte – trumpet
Hendrik Vanattenhoven – double bass
Jan de Haas – drums
