Belgian saxophonist Toine Thys, a familiar and respected figure on the Belgian jazz scene, will be giving a series of concerts in October with a new project: TOINE THYS BANDO. Toine is a leading figure on the saxophone and bass clarinet in Belgium. He won the Octave Award for Best Jazz Album in 2021 and gives more than 90 concerts a year in Belgium, Europe, Asia and Africa.

For the occasion, he is inviting renowned Japanese double bassist Motoï Kanamori, whom he met in Tokyo during a series of concerts. Beyond borders and cultures, a deep connection has been established between the two musicians, cemented by a shared sincerity, rigorous precision of execution and infectious energy.

To bring this new formation to life, the two musicians are joined by the cream of the new generation of Belgian jazz: piano prodigy Wajdi Riahi, whose precocious talent and incisive musicality have conquered the stage in solo and trio performances, bringing a wealth of harmony and inventiveness that never ceases to surprise. And the highly promising Portuguese drummer Diego Alexandre, whose intensity and musicality in every moment are unanimously acclaimed.
