Fe-niks presenteert Jean Luc Pappi Trio Feat Dunja Mees

In the 1960s, Antonio Carlos Jobim combined samba with cool jazz, single-handedly inventing an entirely new musical style. Bossa Nova became a global phenomenon.

The Jean-Luc Pappi Trio, along with singer Dunja, will pay tribute to Jobim on September 26th in the upstairs room of De Valk on the main square in Lier.

We know Dunja, of course, as a virtuoso and inspiring singer. Besides well-known Jobim songs like "The Girl of Ipanema," "Corcovado," and "How Insesitive," she also performs lesser-known Jobim songs such as the melancholic "Meditation" and the bittersweet, saudade-infused "Retrato em Branco e Preto."

Jean-Luc Pappi is a lyrical pianist with a refined sense of melody and harmony, inspired by both classical music and modern jazz. His playing is characterized by subtlety, emotion, and a strong narrative force. We know Chris Mentens as a versatile double bassist with a warm tone and a solid groove. He's not only a solid accompanist but also a creative improviser with a keen sense of musical dialogue.

Thierry Gutman is a sensitive drummer who supports the trio with finesse and nuance. His playing is as subtle as it is dynamic.
