As part of the "Salut les Voisins – Jazz bij de Buren – Jazz at the Neighbors" project

"Jong Jazztalent Gent" in 2024.

Stan Maris, accordion / Werend Van Den Bossche, saxophone / Tom Peeters, drums

Led by accordionist Stan Maris, this exciting group explores the boundaries of jazz and instrumental hip-hop. A dynamic force on the Belgian scene, they won the "Jong Jazztalent Gent" award in 2024.

The Project

A surprising combination of contemporary jazz with influences from hip-hop and electronic music, combined with manga culture for a physical version.

Kin Gajo was founded by accordionist Stan Maris (Kreis, Ocean Eddie), who is fast becoming one of the most exciting artists on our scene. With saxophonist Werend Van Den Bossche (Dishwasher, Sonic Hug) and drummer Tom Peeters (Elias D’hooge Trio), he plays a fresh and surprising blend of contemporary jazz with hip-hop influences and inventive electronics.

Their debut EP, Āku (W.E.R.F., 2023), is full of surprising grooves, melodies, and rhythms.

DJ and producer Lefto has put Kin Gajo at the forefront of Brussels' young jazz scene with his compilation Lefto Presents Jazz Cats Volume 3. The trio demonstrates how original and colorful the results can be when elements of contemporary jazz fuse with diverse influences from a metropolitan melting pot. They also won the Jazz Talent Gent (formerly Jong Jazztalent Gent) creative competition and will also showcase their ambitious sound at Gent Jazz 2025 and Gaume Jazz 2025!
