Treehouse Days

Treehouse Days

Resting your back against the bark, seeing without being seen, balancing on a branch, contemplating the world...

So many little things that allude to the simplicity and freedom that characterise this duo's music.

Treehouse Days explores the mischievous relationship between Emily's voice and Boris's double bass, and looks at the world through the eyes of the living beings and objects that rub shoulders with us every day. It's an intimate exchange with a flavour of ‘the carefree days of tree houses’.

The originality of this duo lies not only in its pared-down sound, a blend of acoustics with the occasional hint of electronics, but also in the musical interaction between the singer and the double bassist, who are partners in harmony and voice.

Treehouse Days' repertoire is made up of original compositions whose starting point is their point of view. Elders and Betters’ highlights the complicated relationship that trees have had with human beings since the dawn of time, “Benchmarks” recounts the typical day of a park bench and its moods, and “Your World” shows us how a baby feels after arriving in this new, cold, noisy world...

Tailor-made lyrics dress up Emily Allison and Boris Schmidt's compositions, in a style that certainly evokes the world of jazz, pop or minimalist folk, and ‘indie’ as they say.
