Piergiorgio Pirro Quintet feat. Lynn Cassiers

Piergiorgio Pirro explores the dialogue between jazz and spectral music, bringing together a new version of his band, this time featuring the innovative Belgian vocalist Lynn Cassiers. One year after his acclaimed album fold/unfold/refold (2023), the quintet is preparing a new album to be recorded in the spring of 2025.

Spectral music, which emerged in the 1970s and 1980s, investigates the physics of sound and challenges traditional musical structures. Pirro applies these ideas in a jazz context, with a strong focus on improvisation and spontaneity. Unique to this project is Pirro’s use of both piano and the LinnStrument, a synthesizer controller that enables microtonal nuances. The other band members also experiment with this approach, giving the music a distinctive yet refreshing jazz sound.
