Alto sax player Frank Vaganée, double bass player Sam Gerstmans and drummer Teun Verbruggen come together for a new concert in 2019. The pleasure of improvising on standards or personal compositions with a strong bop flavour. The happiness is too strong, the group is born. The essence of jazz is here and, of course, so are the many surprises!

Bring together three musicians in love with the good old bop that we share without even having time to think about it. Jazz that has been flowing through our veins since the 1950s and has nourished so many spirits. Playing this music spontaneously, without ulterior motives or calculations, is not for everyone. But Frank Vaganée, Sam Gerstmans and Teun Verbruggen are not everyone. Without even looking for it, these virtuosos have found the magic alchemy that brings out the ever-renewed inventiveness of jazz. Between the revisited standards of Monk, Duke, Ornette or Parker, the original compositions that intrude certainly don't make a stain. The interplay between saxophonist, double bassist and drummer is so innate as to be quite natural. The energy, combined with the fluidity and subtlety of the playing, will plunge you back into the heart of a fantasized Birdland that is nonetheless very real and, above all, very topical.
