Vokalis 'When music sounds'

Vokalis 'When music sounds'

Our Lady's Choir, Vokalis Branch, along with a jazz combo, will perform Will Todd's suite.

Born in County Durham, Todd attended Durham School and joined the choir of St. Oswald Church in Durham under its choirmaster David Higgins. He then studied music at the University of Bristol. He is an accomplished jazz pianist and performs regularly with his trio.

Led by conductor Jeroen Keymeulen, we will take you on a musical journey, with a repertoire composed of beautiful compositions by the talented British composer Will Todd, interspersed with works by Jussi Chydenius and David Dickau. There is not only singing as the choir will be accompanied for this concert by a jazz trio that will also give their best purely instrumental performances.

The genre of “choral jazz,” the guiding theme of this afternoon, is an often underrated and unloved genre of choral music. However, we hope that we can draw you into the wonderful world of jazzy chords and swinging rhythms that we will bring before you.
