In the B-Jazz International Contest, Muziekmozaïek, Jazz At Felix, De Jazzontspooring, Pelt Jazz and Rataplan are looking for young jazz talent ready to break through on international stages. B-Jazz wants to discover, support and encourage these talents. This international competition gives them the chance to perform in front of a professional jury and an enthusiastic audience.
During this first Belgian preliminary round, three young bands get the chance to present themselves and their repertoire to the audience and the jury. After the fourth and final preliminary round in Antwerp, the two winners will be announced who will advance to the finals in the autumn.
20:00: Manon Gautier
21:00: The Green Mean Machine
22:00: Gabriël Noerens Trio
Manon Gautier
Manon Gautier forms a new band together with Prithivi Nakarmi, Toon Rumen and Simon Pas, where they breathe life into pieces they have written in recent months. They know each other through the conservatory in Antwerp so a big jazz influence in their music is inevitable and remains their common passion.
The Green Mean Machine
The Green Mean Machine is a dynamic jazz quartet formed in 2019. Werend Van Den Bossche, Warre Van de Putte, Zjef Van Steenbergen and Marcos Della Rocha first met in Ghent, where they discovered a shared love for jazz and experimental music. Their music is characterised by free-flowing improvisation and infectious energy by striving for the same sense of freedom and playfulness that characterised Miles Davis' Second Quintet.
Gabriel Noerens Trio
The Gabriël Noerens Trio consists of three young musicians from different backgrounds who found each other within the walls of Codarts, University of the Arts in Rotterdam. Their shared passion for jazz has brought them together and led to a journey full of musical growth, creativity, and the development of their own unique sound. Their music finds its roots in traditional jazz, but they approach it with a fresh, contemporary perspective, bringing to life both existing works and their own compositions.
