SESSION #2 from 19:00 to 21:00
SOS MEDITERRANEE is a European sea rescue association set up in 2015 on the initiative of European citizens outraged by the repeated shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. Since 2014, more than 29,000 people have lost their lives attempting the crossing, making it the deadliest migratory sea route in the world. SOS MEDITERRANEE has rescued nearly 40,000 people on board its ambulance vessel, 15% of them women and 25% minors.
Why donate?
SOS MEDITERRANEE Méditerranée helps people who risk their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean. Your donations enable the Ocean Viking, its humanitarian ship, to save lives at sea. The association is 91% funded by private donations.
1 day at sea = €24,000
Missions and values
SOS MEDITERRANEE's mission is to provide assistance, without discrimination and with dignity, to anyone in distress at sea, in compliance with international maritime law.
SOS MEDITERRANEE is a humanitarian association that is independent of any political party or religious denomination.
It is based on respect for people and their dignity, whatever their nationality, origin, social, religious, political or ethnic background.
Today, it is a European network made up of four associations based in France, Germany (2015), Italy (2016) and Switzerland (2017). They share the same mandate and jointly carry out rescue operations at sea and public awareness campaigns.
Sos Méditerranée has 3 missions
SAVE
Rescue people in distress through search and rescue activities at sea
Rescue logbook
PROTECT
To protect those rescued until they are safely disembarked, and to provide them with care and support on board.
