By explicitly headlining his new album “An Indian’s Life”, bassist and composer Henri Texier closes a kind of informal phonographic triptych started in 1993 with “An Indian’s Week” and continued in 2016 with “Sky Dancers” making the Amerindian cause and beyond, the quasi-mythological figure of the Indian, both the imaginary matrix and the poetic engine of his artistic gesture.

Titled most of his compositions with names of Indian tribes (Hopi, Comanche, Mapuche, Navajo Dream, etc.), and unlike the previous record, sometimes placing at the heart of his arrangements some elements that resonate with Native American music (the use of drums in Dakota Mab in particular), Texier succeeded in this committed work, of great expressive force, to considerably renew his orchestral discourse. Henri Texier will never be an Indian, he knows it, just as he will never be Charles Mingus but both meet in his music and it is all his genius to make his most intimate voice heard through this imaginary dialogue. The legend of European jazz will share his music inspired by travel, daydreams and commitment!

Henri Texier (Double bass), Sébastien Texier (Sax, Clarinet), Carlo Nardozza (Trumpet), Manu Codjia (Guitar), Gautier Garrigue (Drums).
