As every year, Leuven Jazz presents a series of theme combos by the jazz department of the LUCA School of Arts. Together with their teacher, the students work out a repertoire around a certain theme or a well-known figure from the history of jazz.
As in past editions, vocal teacher Lynn Cassiers gathers all vocalists, this time to pay homage to the recently deceased composer Carla Bley. Bley was undoubtedly the greatest female jazz composer, with a repertoire ranging from free jazz to jazz rock opera and from big band to chamber jazz.
