River Jazz Festival: LINX - PRIVAT DUO

For over twenty years, he has been the international leader of vocal jazz. He has built up a singular and demanding repertoire. Whether he’s singing, scatting, whispering, or just blubbering, David Linx always finds the right tone and the perfect tempo.

A sensational encounter, love at first sight on the Radio France stage, gave him the urge to build a new repertoire with the gifted pianist Grégory Privat.

Originally from Martinique, he began by learning classical piano before turning to jazz and improvised music, with a particular focus on Afro-Caribbean music. In 2022, he released a solo piano album, Yonn, to unanimous acclaim.

The duo present the album "Be My Guest : The Duos Project, an album of duets with talented guests from all over the world : Tigran Hamasyan, Or Solomon, Hamilton De Holanda, Trevor Baldwin, Nguyên Lê... Narration, poetry, songs, music... dialogues between David that sound like declarations of love, friendship and, sometimes, challenges.

"This project came to me very naturally, like a self-proclaimed inventory, a bit like going back to school. It’s a tribute to transmission, to the spirit of curiosity that’s inseparable from and indispensable to learning by oneself.
