GROOVY & MELANCHOLY
With its original line-up of trombone, electric guitar, double bass and drums, N∆BOU is a breath of fresh air on the Belgian jazz scene. On the trombone, Nabou Claerhout, leader of the group and composer, offers a sound of her own: with the help of all kinds of effects, she creates a dreamlike, atmospheric and melancholic musical universe.
Lush and intimate scores alternate with strongly rhythmic compositions. Trui Amerlinck's groovy bass riffs, Mathias Vercammen's elaborate drum patterns and Roeland Celis' modern and virtuoso guitar playing also play their part in this musical adventure full of highlights. All of this combines with Claerhout's distinctive trombone playing that "sings, cries, pulsates and moves many hearts through well-crafted contemporary pieces".
