Saxophone player Adia Vanheerentals (Waarlijk, Simon Beeckaert, Hendrik Lasure, Klinck Trio, Fanfaar Fatal, Anaïs) has been making waves with Bodem, her trio with guitar player Willem Malfliet (Woolvs, ONZIN, Willy M) and drummer Anke Verslype (aki, Festi, Jakob Bro, Bert Dockx). Their first album, Kleine Mars (2023), launched them as one of the most exciting new jazz projects in Belgium, stretched between the moody Scandinavian scene and more hefty Chicago sounds.

The second album, Lush and Alive, released on February 21st of 2025 by MOKUHI Sonorities, shows their growth and development as a band. Bodem stands for summer vibes and pink candy with short, but always creative compositions.

“Adia's way of playing reminds me a lot of saxophone player Steve Lacy. She has a fine talent for melodies that seem naïve at first, and carry with them a great playfulness and freedom. Pair that with the complex harmonies and rhythms of Anke and Willem, and you get songs with a unique character in a landscape of semi-free improvisation” – Musician and producer Nicolas Rombouts

The album was recorded, mixed and produced with Bodem by Nicolas Rombouts at Studio Caporal. Mastered by Uwe Teichert at Elektropolis.
